Little Sister - Queens of The Stone Age

They keep to their usual sound but this one’s got a really nice melody. There’s a nice guitar solo which sticks in your head after awhile too, its that strange sounding guitar they’ve got. This track might take some getting used but it’s a great upbeat rocker!

Bubbalicious - Baby Bash ft. Natalie

Yes Baby Bash not Bubba Sparxxx! A nice R&B tune. Awesome mix of percussion instruments and wind instruments. They are all probably digital samples but the main riff which consists of tablas and flutes (sounds like those?) is pretty cool. Usual kinda lyrics but Natalie’s voice is really smooth, goes well with the rap and the tempo.

i’m so bubbalicious and so delicious
you can’t resist it
now can we kick it
are you my friend?

Jars of Clay

They were the breakout band of the 90’s ‘Christian alternative movement’. Jars of Clay stormed the charts with their hit single ‘Flood’ which also made their debut self-titled album go double-platinum.

The group’s lyrics may have been exclusively Christian, but their mostly acoustic music fit perfectly into the folky jangle pop wing of alternative rock radio, at the time a rarity on the contemporary Christian music scene.

Hit singles like ‘Sunny Days’ and ‘Liquid’ followed. ‘Much Afraid’, ‘The Eleventh Hour’ and ‘Who We Are Instead’ are some of their other albums. Clear and soothing yet powerful vocals. Wonderful guitar riffs. Either upbeat or slightly mellow. Whichever it is, they blend it well, each track has its own unique rhythm. It’s a trademarked sound. Intoxicating acoustica.

Massive Attack

A beautifully done seamless integration of a wide range of musical styles, that’s Massive Attack for you, straight from the UK. There’s a touch of alternative along with some rap and lotsa ambient grooves with grinding beats.

The pioneering force behind the rise of trip-hop, Massive Attack were among the most innovative and influential groups of their generation; their hypnotic sound — a darkly sensual and cinematic fusion of hip-hop rhythms, soulful melodies, dub grooves, and choice samples — set the pace for much of the dance music to emerge throughout the 1990s, paving the way for such acclaimed artists as Portishead, Sneaker Pimps, Beth Orton, and Tricky, himself a Massive Attack alumnus.

From punk to reggae to R&B, the group’s parties quickly became can’t-miss events for the club crowd. They were also involved in other projects like the group Soul II Soul and also worked with Everything but the Girl’s Tracey Thorn, SinĂ©ad O’Connor etc.

Andrew “Mushroom” Vowles and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall — teamed with local graffiti artist 3D (born Robert del Naja) to form Massive Attack in 1987. “Daydreaming” was their first hit back in ‘90 and since that day they’ve released massive tracks like ‘Karmacoma’, ‘Teardrop’ and ‘Inertia Creeps’. I’ve listened to ‘Protection’ and ‘Mezzanine’, awesome stuff! They’ve also got albums like ‘Blue Lines’ and ‘100th Window’. Smooth music. Dark music. If you dare.
